From an NBA job, coming down and coaching college, you really don't see that too often.

I came to games all the time as a kid, and I was familiar and comfortable with the campus. Just the atmosphere was exciting. I went to the camp my senior year and really fell in love with the coaching staff. I looked at Holy Cross a bit, but nothing too serious because I knew I wanted to come here.

Glenn, Kyle and Eddie (Miller) are our three veteran guards and they're all playmakers. If you put the ball in their hands, they make coaching a lot easier. They make plays for themselves and others. And Glenn, he has the ability to be as good as any guard in our league, and I truly believe that.

But it's up to Shaquille, too. I mean, it's up to him. And this is where the old coach came out of Stu. He started using some coaching terminology. He said, 'Well, you've got to get him to make a V-cut every now and then. If he makes a V-cut, then they impede his progress, they'll call it.

But it will be a new test of his coaching skills. . . . He has to find a way to turn around an underachieving team.

But we thought we needed to change there. We felt these were areas where we were not good at and needed to improve. We struggled in some decisions at the third-base coaching spot and in base-running (Lopes' responsibility).

But we've got a good group to work with. They have a good work ethic. They're good people with good parents. It's not just coaching it goes back to home, where their parents teach them to be the people they are.

Catonsville is a big problem because they get better as the season goes on. They have great coaching and great players and once they know what their roles are and do what they have to do, they're a dangerous team.

Based on our win-loss record this past season, changes needed to be made. This aspect of coaching college basketball is business. We have offered to assist those who are choosing to move on.

I don't know why we didn't come out to play today. That's definitely what it was; a lack of intensity. We as a coaching staff need to figure out what the problem is and not let it happen again.

Because of the success we've had at Fresno State, I have been contacted by several NFL teams regarding their head coaching openings. I'm not going to name the teams, out of respect, but only to say there is genuine interest. Since becoming head coach at Fresno State, I have never interviewed for another job, but with so much interest at this time from NFL teams, I owe it to my family to look and listen.

Basically I stood back and let her do all the work. I was still on the sidelines and did administration stuff, but she did all the coaching and it freed me to concentrate and devote all my energy to the boys. It all worked out well.

I have been involved with situations where coaches have left, and there has been a transition of coaching staffs, where I've had abandonment of some team players. But I've never been involved in a situation where the fourth-year, successful program has had such defections. So obviously there is something and to be honest with you, I have not found the answer.

I had made up my mind after the conference finals that I was done. I told all the players. I told (Flyers General Manager Bob Clarke). I met (Flyers chairman) Mr. (Ed) Snider in the hallway. I called the coaching staff and I told my family.

I have a lot of faith in my teammates and coaching staff. There are no major moves. We'll find a way. Somehow, someway, things will come up roses for us.

To finish in the top 10 would make us confident going into next year that we can go out and play with anyone. To finish third out of 32 teams is a great accomplishment for our kids, program and coaching staff, ... I still feel like we were the best soccer team in this tournament, and it would have been great to play for the title. But we have nothing to hang our heads about.

Having him around is like having a library of knowledge. He's been coaching 25 years and in that time there probably isn't a defense or offense he hasn't seen or gone against. You just don't find guys like him, with that much knowledge, sitting around.

He received criticism from the media, he received criticism from different people, but it wasn't from anyone in this locker room. It wasn't from anyone in the coaching staff, because we believed in him and believed that he had the right intent.

Henry's going to get the program started for us, and I know he's going to do a good job. The guy's got a lot of coaching experience and he's just a super person.

He obviously has a track record. He's been successful as a head coach, and that's important. A lot of coaches are good at recruiting. He brings a blend of coaching and recruiting, and that's vital to what we've been trying to achieve. And he brings a great deal of passion and drive to what he does.

Her joy in coaching these young women made them believe in themselves and depend on each other. Her guidance not only helped them excel here, it will help them become better, more compassionate leaders.

Her teams ran the fast break better than any other team I've ever seen. We spent 19 years as rivals, but we were also the best of coaching friends. We shared information and talked all the time. That's what I'm going to miss most.

With me, you're either in or out. I picked them. I'm with them. I'm going to try to keep coaching them. I'm not going let this shake me. I've been around this game too damn long.

We've gone in as a No. 3 and a No. 4 since I started coaching here. It's nice to be the higher seed, but I think that's a bit neutralized because we're in the 5A tourney. I think a 5A No. 4 seed might be like a 4A No. 2 seed. We'll be playing deeper teams, bigger teams.

We've got to go back to the gym right away (today). We didn't practice our offensive sets enough. That was a coaching error. We worked more on our defense than our offense and it showed.

I have a great deal of respect for the way he goes about coaching defense. His kids really do a good job of that. He's intense. He's passionate about what he does. That's how you win. I don't give a damn what sport you play.

I have a hard time thinking about Randy coaching 40 years. I can't really say, 'I have 11 more years left.' He's really unique. He's an amazing man.
