He's got a really good chance to do well up there. His moves are really coming together. He's a lot more aggressive on the mat lately. I'm seeing in him now what I've always envisioned him to be capable of. He's really putting it together now. Last year, there were times I wanted him to wrestle like he is now, but maybe I was just getting ahead of myself. Now he's wrestling where he's dominating guys and throwing guys around. It's really nice to see.

If I got that first takedown, then I'd have to make him wrestle instead of running away and making it a more defensive match for himself. I took him down and made him chase after me instead of the other way around.

I can say I got to wrestle at Wells Fargo (Arena) the first year it held state. I'm happy about that.

I can wrestle a bit too, but he'll probably want to ground and pound.

I do think being a prissy tomboy helps me in raising a son in general. I wrestle with him, play ball, play in the sandbox with him. As a mom, you get bruises, scrapes on your knee.

He's No. 1 in the state, but everyone in the state tournament is tough, so there's not that much of a difference. I'm going to have to wrestle him some time if I want to achieve my goal. He wrestled at 171 pounds last year, so I'm going to assume he's strong, but the way I'm looking at it, he's beatable. I'm just going to wrestle my match.

For some guys, it is tough to wrestle a girl. They don't know how to react to wrestling a girl. Moves that come naturally to them, they are afraid to hit them.

Her brothers kept wrestling her at the house. She kept asking her dad if she could wrestle and he would tell her no. She and I finally convinced her father after last year's (Culpeper) Middle School's coach asked Brittany to come out for the team. He thought it would help Brittany in school because she hates school. The only thing she likes about school is gym.

All of the guys are capable of beating me. If I wrestle up to my potential, I am capable of beating any opponent.

The last four weeks we've been getting better each time out. Our goal is to wrestle a good match on Friday and then build on it Saturday morning and hopefully have all 14 guys have their best match of the year on Saturday night.

All of them have a real good shot at winning matches and getting to the state level. Hopefully, they'll all wrestle well and reach their goals.

All of the other coaches in the state, and myself included, have told him that he's a monster, and he has to wrestle like it.

There's no outcome-based goal (tonight). We're going to wrestle tough, have some fun and relish the fact that we made it as a team. I'm not too worried about the score.
