Brian Merritt Moehleris a former starting pitcher... (wikipedia)
I was impressed with how smoothly things went. The coaching staff has a good grasp on how they want things to be run.
One thing you haven't seen from us - we're not quitting. We're hanging in there and battling back.
My location was good tonight. I felt pretty good, and we made some pretty good plays in the field. You can't say enough about Uggla, the way he's played this year. He does the little things, shows up to the park, gets his work in. He's done a phenomenal job.
My location was horrible. My mechanics are out of whack right now and it's very frustrating.
Mechanically, something's out of whack. The ball keeps running on me. My location is horrible right now.
Maybe we're good pitchers, you ever think of that?
Giving up runs early, I'm sure it takes the wind out of our sails. It's not their fault.
I felt much better. Better than I did the last time out. I made three mistakes, and all three mistakes were runs.
I felt good. I threw some really good change-ups today. I threw them when I was behind in the count. I threw them when I was ahead in the count. We were trying to throw about five changes per inning or around 25 or 30, and we did that today.
I felt good. Last time I probably threw about 35 pitches and felt OK. This time I threw 55 pitches and felt like I could have gone more, which is good.
He was sitting there doing curls with a bar and he's got a cigarette hanging out of his mouth. In the weight room, smoking while he's doing curls.
He was a tough out. You know you're getting old when some of the guys you played against are your coaches.
You just want to give your team a chance to win.
There are a lot of guys who dip and when you see someone dipping on a baseball field, you just don't think anything of it. But (smoking) is the same thing.
We're going to make mistakes. That's just the way it is. Hopefully you learn from those mistakes and don't make them as frequently as the year goes on.
We didn't kick the ball around today. We didn't throw the ball away.
A lot of these guys are real quiet, so you have to go up and introduce yourself to them. They seem like good kids.
I'm not giving up a chance to win. I'm at a loss. I'm struggling right now.
It's definitely not his dress code. Some of the stuff he tries to wear to the field ... no hats ... ripped shirts. That's part of growing up.
He's the type of manager where if you get your work done, do it right and hustle, you get off the field. If you don't hustle, don't do it right, you'll be here all day. Honestly, that's the way it should be when you have a young team. A lot of these guys were in 'A' ball last year.
The bullpen could happen. I'll do whatever they ask of me. I'll keep plugging along. I'm fighting it, but we'll work something out.
It was a terrible game tonight, it's the only way to explain it. I didn't pitch well at all. Mechanically, I just don't feel right. Something is out of whack. The ball keeps running on me -- I'm having a hard time with location.
I can bunt better to move runners, and I can hit better. I've worked on it and want to see how much I've improved.
