I was saying all year long we have a championship team. It's an unbelievable mix. We have 12 seniors, all awesome kids, and with them showing the ropes to our young skilled guys, it really is perfect.

We made a lot of strides this year, and they have a lot to be proud of.

When you're 1-9 and down 22 at the half, it's nice to see they didn't quit. That's a good sign. I told the kids early in the third quarter that we were still in this thing. They didn't pack it in.

I think that's what cost them. They hung on and hung on like a rope-a-dope in boxing and almost beat us doing it. But I'm not afraid to play 11, 12 forwards. When you have that much depth and that much trust as a coach in your players, they feed off that trust. That's going to beat a couple of skilled guys on the ice.

We just couldn't get a basket in that second quarter. We were 0-for-8 from the field. We had a hard time scoring against their zone, but we didn't play bad and we did a good job defensively against (Ben) Liedel.

We played extremely well in the first half. The kids were playing with confidence. We felt pretty good going into the second half. Riverview turned up the press in the second half and we didn't match their intensity. We just folded.

The police department believes it will be difficult to enforce.

As soon as you start winning 10-0, 12-0 you're going to get a bad name. It just put this black eye on the team. If you look at the numbers, it was just common sense to put us back where we were. It's something that shouldn't have happened in the first place, but we're all thankful that the athletic directors voted us back into Class A.

It was a huge win for us, obviously, because we cut (three) games from our schedule.

Andy and I talk on the phone about every day. We both have the same coaching philosophy win with defense. We'll be prepared. We won't have any trouble getting ready for that game.

If I were to go back two years ago, when he was a freshman, I'd never think he'd be able to throw his body around like he does now. He's one of those guys where people keep their head up in the neutral zone because they know he can do some damage.

It's certainly a surprise when you put four girls together and win a state title. They're young kids, real aggressive and have worked very hard. I don't even know if they know what they've done yet.

He's the kind of kid who took it personally. He's been waiting for this day and I'm glad he got it.

Airport is a strong, physical team. They have a lot of football players who play basketball, but they were the better team.

We got some good looks to start the game. If any of those shots would have fallen for us, we might have been a little better off.

I told him that I had a vision of him scoring a hat trick. As I was driving to the game with the coaching staff, I told them that we were going to need a big game out of Sean.

He's obviously going to help us once he gets his feet wet. He was nervous tonight.
