What happens if the nurse-patient ratio can't be met? Would the state rather see entire units shut down and patients forced to transfer to different facilities?
Imposing a ratio doesn't help you hire another nurse. What it does is create demand that drives up wages.
It's unworkable. It cannot be fixed in the remaining time in the legislative session.
It's so flawed that we think the attorney general should just withdraw it. You cannot fix it by tinkering with it.
It's a very complex set of issues. We're definitely going to be having some serious discussions and deliberations with the attorney general.
