She is probably the best athlete in our conference. Between her athleticism and passion for basketball, it really makes my job easier as a coach. She's a great kid and extremely unselfish player. We had to forcer her to take the ball and go to the basket. If I had her for all four years, she would have hit her 1,000th last year. Growing up on a farm gives you great work ethic; it can really give you a balanced upbringing.

She played very good. She stepped up and made things happen.

The one thing I stressed midway through the season was that our inside game was our meat and potatoes, but with the states coming around, we needed our outside game to be more of a threat. Amanda got better and peaked when it counted. She worked at 150 percent day in and out; she never slacked off.

Our guard play has been our weaker play, but the last third of the season they have really stepped up.

I think it was a relief that we went to the finals last year, didn't win, but did this year. We didn't have the mental edge going into that game (with Salem).

We really don't know who we're going to play (in the state tournament).

It was absolutely a great year. With the shallow bench, with just one senior and six freshmen on the bench ? it was a tremendous year. To do what we did in those three games were enormous. It was a great year.

It was a little bit sloppy. We stayed focused, and we held on.

I only had three that played there last year. The three seniors better remember what happened.

Before the season, we ask them what goals do they have, and the team goal is always to make the states. It's absolutely a big accomplishment for our team.

How can you go wrong with those two players?

I told the kids that we have been winning, and maybe we needed a little fire under us. We need to get refocused.
