If the government insists on this point, it will be a pity.
People are afraid they would be arrested for what they would normally do, such as criticizing the government, or criticizing policies.
Our system works only if the public can have implicit faith in her. What she has done has destroyed that faith.
There is no reason to support such a proposal when the system of appointed members still exists and no concrete timetable has been laid down by the government on how to achieve universal suffrage.
They are eminently able people. Both should be regarded as pretty independent.
