I worked on my pitches. I gave up some hits and some runs, but overall it was good. I threw a lot of strikes and got up to 90 pitches.

I fell behind everybody and that's a good hitting team. The third inning really killed me.

He's a first-pitch swinger and I wanted to throw it off the plate and I threw it right down the middle. Right then I knew the ball wasn't going to go where I wanted it to today.

I was a little nervous. I was just trying to learn from all the guys -- knowing I was going to be one of the first ones cut. I just tried to fit in where I could.

I was little too quick. I couldn't put the ball where I wanted.

I threw some fastballs and they hit them. It was just one of those days. You put it in the back of your mind and carry it into the season.

We have to help each other out. We have to keep it simple and not get overwhelmed. I don't think having the youngest staff will have any hindrance on us.

When I go home, it's time for me to get away, and we don't have to sit there and talk baseball. It's good just to sit there and relax.

At some point it will probably hit me, but right now I'm just having fun and looking forward to it. I just go out and have fun and compete. That's all you can do. I just hope my best is good enough, and so far it has been.

It was weird to get my first at-bat before I pitched my first inning. That helped me relax. I was just trying to get through the first inning. That was my goal. I was expecting to have some rough innings and have to battle through it.

I wanted to challenge him inside, but I threw it right over the middle of the plate. He's hot now, and that's what good hitters do. Maybe I should have thrown him something off-speed. I don't know. But I'm not going to back down from anybody.

Pretty much the whole time I didn't execute any pitches. Then they hit them hard ... and that's all that happened today.

You're not ever going to see me start putting my head down. I'm going to do whatever I have to do to get out of it. I'm going to throw whatever pitch is working that day. If I have to throw 75 breaking balls, then that's what it's gonna be. My demeanor is that you can knock me down, but you know I'm not going to stay down.

I wanted to make sure I was getting the team innings. I think we all need to start throwing more strikes and letting our defense catch the ball.

It was good to get back out there. I think I was maybe a little too anxious. I was falling behind hitters.

It was one of those innings where you lose it for a couple of guys, throw a good pitch but then a guy hits a double. Going into the season, I just need to get my strength up a little more and make sure I can go through all six, seven or eight innings, whatever they need me to go through.

That pretty much killed me. I fell behind on everybody.

You don't want to show them everything you've got. But you want to go out there and compete and not give them a lot of runs. I'm a competitor and, even during spring training, I don't like to give up a lot of runs.

It's just one of those things. Maybe we need to just get out there and relax and not worry about whether it's the first inning or the eighth inning.

We talked to them this morning and they seem to be doing good. They've ridden out a few of them, so they're doing good.

It's good and bad -- you don't want to show them everything you got, but I'm not going any tricks at you. I'm going to do the same thing each and every outing, compete and go after you. I'm not going to try to do anything different.
