This was a great ball game and a great win, considering all of the luggage that came with it. This completed the circle. I'll always have love for the kids in Aspen, but I'm a Longhorn now.

Darren was in this position Saturday and wasn't sure he could finish. Just three days later, he wouldn't even look at me in the dugout. He wanted to finish the deal. He showed a lot of heart.

Considering it's just our third game and fourth or fifth time outside, we played better than expected. Rory went a little longer than expected, but we never got that one inning where we could open up any kind of gap. He has good mechanics and could go forever if you let him.

For nine years I taught Aspen to hate purple, to beat purple, and we did. This is bittersweet because I love the kids at Aspen. It was out of everybody's hands.

It's the first time we've beaten Hotchkiss in my lifetime. We are hot right now. There's no magic wand. These kids are talented, and they've started to believe.

I figured it was better to have fresh arms come Tuesday. We were just not fresh. While we were playing all these games, other teams had four days off. I told the guys to go home and not think about baseball for a few days. Go play golf or do whatever. Then we'll start it up again.
