Our last message at halftime was something that we had said early in training camp. We just reminded the players that battles are not won by digging in. If you dig in, you just become a target. Battles are won by attacking. The players did a very good job of that, and they can be proud of themselves.

Kai has been through two years of playing in a lot of games, he's been to all the stadiums, he's played all the teams, he knows what's out there in front of him, he knows what needs to be done. He's a mature player now and he knows what it takes to be a really, really good player.

We all understand that this was a good win for us, ... It wasn't a season-ending win. There are more games to come, and to make this really worthwhile we need to be ready to win again.

Al Golden is a very engaging, energetic coach. He has contributed a great deal to our program which hopefully gives him a good model on how to do things right. His coming to Temple is a real plus for the Owl program.

That's blue-collar work in there. Sometimes that has to be developed, and he's making good progress towards that.

I really hesitate to say it because he hasn't played a game yet, but he's really looking like what we're looking for there. It's kind of gone back and forth a little bit. As the wear and strain of training camp goes on, there have been real good days for him, and there have been other days when he hasn't been quite as comfortable with circumstances.

This was probably his best day of the spring. Perhaps the progress wasn't as fast during the spring as he had hoped, but this was like the final exam, and he made some real good plays today.

It's been a real good progression in the last eight or nine months for him. He knows that if he wants to play more football, this is his last chance to show that he's worthy. He knows he has to make the most of it.

He really stepped up during playoff time. Good teams have a lot of players that step up at that particular time. And that's as much a characteristic as size and speed is the ability to step up at those moments.

All of those guys were good high school basketball players. They are big guys with soft feet and athletic ability.
