Joey Porter is getting criticism based on what he (has) said throughout the playoffs. I think it's easy to criticize him because of what he said in the past. But it's not like things he said in the past weren't true. The guy speaks off the cuff; he shows you what he believes and what he thinks. That's not a bad thing.

I think it's been my work ethic. I've just been a hard worker, a guy that's always trying to be positive and put a positive swing on things sometimes even in the darkest moments. I was never a fast guy, ... So the little speed I did have and may have lost is not detectable. People look at me as a guy with quick feet and power. Because of that, I'm able to do the same things I was able to do at 26 and 27. I don't rely on speed, never have, so my game doesn't have to change much.

With Mr. Rooney, you feel as if you're part of his family. He's just a regular guy who makes you feel really comfortable around him.

You all ask us to tell you something, and when we kind of skate around the truth, that's accepted. But when we tell you what we believe to be the truth, we get criticized. It's a shame he spoke out on what he believes in and is being criticized.
