My life changed over seven years; his life has changed over two. He's getting pulled at from every direction, but I think he's handling it good. I don't see where it's changed him at all. Maybe it's confused him because he gets hit with (stuff) he don't want to worry about. He wants to do all the same stuff he always wanted to do. He just loves to race.

I have a strong tie to tracks like this. These are the places where you grew up as a race car driver. It's like home. Our homes are all of these different race tracks scattered throughout the country. And some of them you just take a liking to - like this one.

I don't think he was driving it (then). I think when I came on the circuit ... I don't know who was.

I saw the pit right there, so I thought I'd still hook a left. I just kind of slung it around, put on four tires, backed up and took off.

I won't drive for them. Never have. Never will.

I think it's a real good excuse. A Saturday night with a Winston Cup race doesn't effect us (at the I-55).

Yeah, you can say I like speed, ... Mostly, I just like being around race cars and racing people. It was my hobby and it became my job and I still love it every bit as much as I did when I started.

We're unloading the best stuff we've got, which is good stuff. We don't have four teams to go comparing notes to, but you do what you can do with what you've got. It's not like they're unloading stuff that we don't have. They just have a lot more of it.

That's what I do. I like to race.

Yeah, it's frustrating and aggravating just a little bit,

We've had it 10 years. Last year was our best season yet. It's doing real good.

We've run so many races here we ought to have won one. You know, we haven't won any Cup races here. Finished second once.

When the day comes that one of these kids bumps me out, I'm going to run the next best thing I can find at whatever level that is. I'm going to keep doing it until I can't climb into the car anymore or (until) my buddies can't lift me in.

You got a whole lot of obstacles in front of you, as far as being a top-10 car week in and week out, but it's not like you've got a mountain in front of you that you can't climb,

You've just got to be confident or you wouldn't be here at this level.

This isn't something I have to do, but of all the tracks I've been to over the years, Toledo has been a real good one for us. The main thing I like about this place is that I'm a big fan of the ARCA people and that whole series. I want to maintain that long-standing relationship.

You're either in it or you're not. When it (wreck) starts happening, there is either going to be a hole for you or a way you can wiggle through. But more than likely, if it's not there, you can't just make a hole. It's not like you can cut left or cut right and cut left that quick and miss it at those speeds. You either miss it or you don't.

In case you didn't know, we're all still racing, ... There's a lot of importance on the top 10 and there should be. But, make no mistake about it, there are still 43 guys out there each Sunday who are all trying to do the same thing, and that's win the race.

I'm just not sure what I was thinking when I accepted. Looks a little bit dangerous to me. We're not going to start up at the top. That's good. And I think the brake pedal works.

Oh that? Listen, I'll go to the back any time, before I tear my fenders off. And I knew I had to turn to keep from tearing my fenders off.

At Bristol the air doesn't make quite as much difference. It's close, I remember it was a pretty quick lap (in qualifying).

Circle, circle, circle. I guess you could say I've been dizzy ever since.

You could lose 'em pretty quick. You could lose 'em in a second. First off, if you lifted for a second, you're going to get run over anyway, because the guy behind you didn't expect you to lift. Because nobody lifts.

It really boils down to what kind of role model you are going to be. You are either going to be someone people, especially kids, can look up to, or you are going to be someone their parents like to point at and say, 'Don't be like him!' I'd much rather be on the front page of the paper for winning a race than being arrested for something.

It's a short little race that pays a lot of money.

I'd trade them all for one Cup win. . . . Nah, I wouldn't.

The racing is no different if it is day or night except you see the lights and the sparks. You run the race the same. The day or night doesn't really affect the race.

I can't blame the drivers for making the move, and I can't blame the owners for being upset. Keep in mind, this ain't like the real world where you work somewhere and you can stay 40 years. Being able to see where you are going just a few years ahead is a pretty cool deal, and it doesn't happen too often in any sport, much less stock car racing.

I'm gonna drive until my buddies can't lift me in the car, and I'll get some younger buddies if I need to.
