Fourteen years ago I thought it was neat to win this award, and now I'm so much more appreciative of it. From the first day of practice this team was fun to coach yet they were focused on what they had to do.
I am confident, and I hope it isn't cockiness, but I told them that I thought we were the only team in the country that could come in here and win this game. I believed that we could if we played. We couldn't come in here and win unless we played our best game.
We were a pretty confident bunch beforehand. I think I'm confident. I hope it's not over the edge of cockiness, but I told them I felt like we were the only team in this country that could come in here and win this game.
(The regular season) is 16 games over two or three months, as opposed to three games over one weekend. It's more difficult to win the regular season.
I told (the players) I thought we were the only team in the country that could come in here and win this game.
They played with great purpose and passion. I was scared to death of them, to be honest with you. In saying that, I still thought we were going to win the game.
If I don't fumble, we win the ballgame. I'm the one who cost us the ballgame. But we have to live with it now. This put something in us. We just have to win every week. This is business. This is real.
I can remember a time when you were a No. 1, No. 2 or No. 3 (seed), the first couple of games you could win without playing well. I don't think you can do that anymore.
