Venus told me the other day that champions don't get nervous in tight situations. That really helped me a lot. I decided I shouldn't get nervous and just do the best I can.
No one gets me more motivated than Venus because I don't want her to catch up with me yet. She's at five (Grand Slam tournament titles) now. I still have seven. So I got to keep ahead.
She's playing unbelievable, so I'm going to have to pick it up. Venus has been working hard for quite some time to turn this thing up. She's always in the gym, running miles, always practicing. . . . It was just a matter of timing.
It could come very soon. All I can do is play to get to the fourth round. Venus and I just have to get there. No one gets me more motivated than Venus. She won Wimbledon and has five majors. I still have seven titles. So I have to stay ahead of her.
Hopefully, next time we meet will be in the finals. It's very weird and awkward and bizarre to meet so early. I don't think I played my best, and I don't think Venus did, either.
I don't think there's anyone besides Venus that could have beaten me at this championship, ... Honestly, I'm playing better than I had in Australia.
I don't think there's anyone besides Venus who could've beaten me at this championship.
Everyone in this room knows that Venus is probably one of the greatest people on the tour. She's really great. She's super professional. Complete opposite of me.
A lifetime with Venus Williams will not be enough.
