We're excited about the tax season, but, as usual, there is some uncertainty about how it will work out.

With two more weeks of strong TurboTax sales -- especially TurboTax Online -- the tax season is turning out better than we expected. As a result, we're raising our guidance for both total company and TurboTax growth for the year.

As our customers run their businesses or manage their personal finances, dealing with tax requirements creates a lot of opportunities for Intuit.

These opportunities are much broader than our traditional consumer and professional tax businesses in the U.S. and Canada. Taxes also impact our payroll business as well as the tax forms part of our supplies business.

As expected, consumer tax revenue is only slightly above last year's level, ... This is because we continue to see an increasing portion of our tax growth coming in our third quarter. More customers are using our Web-based tax solutions, which historically have revenue peaks later in the season.
