You need to challenge yourself every few years and say, 'Are we taking all the steps necessary to allow us to compete effectively? It may develop that you say, 'You know what? Good tournaments can compete and perform very nicely. And the Tour Championship doesn't do that bad, but it's too far removed. It reinforced to us that if you put something special out there, we can carry the audience with us into September. And if it's a strong enough finish, then the season becomes more important.

At least going forward, we know it can be done. ... If the golfers who play here regularly are comfortable with cutting back play for a little while, we can look forward to good conditions the next time we come here.
