Qualifying is first and foremost, ... Once we can achieve that initial goal, the next objective for California is to finish the race in the top 20. I'm going to give myself a B-minus, ... In practice and qualifying I thought I made a lot of progress. But then in the race we got unlucky because we blew a left-front tyre right off the bat. Later in the race I spun when I was trying to get by someone, that was just a rookie mistake, but I managed to save the car and not hit the wall.

For my fifth race this season on a non-restrictor plate oval, I felt I made some pretty big gains this weekend, ... We were clicking off competitive lap times all day and felt we had at least a top-20 car.

It's a long race. You don't race in the 24 hours of Daytona; you save everything. I'm just glad we're all tall! That will make it a lot more comfortable.
