Our offense was very much aware that we hadn't scored a touchdown in two years against these guys. I thought they came in and responded to a good football team.
I remember watching him at Highland Springs (High School, near Richmond), and when I recruited him I told him my plan was to get him on offense some and get him on defense some, and I think he's the kind of guy that can handle it. I think he's got that kind of ability.
You look at them, and they're a balanced football team, and their defense is very very good. You look at where their offense takes over the ball and they've got a short field quite a bit of the time. Field position is critical, and that comes back to their defense.
When something bad happens in a game, when something kind of goes bad, our offense comes back and answers, ... We are special in that way. We've been able to answer, and what we do from here on out is what's going to count. But we got some things going.
Defense is ahead of the offense from a maturity standpoint. You really see that out there. There's just a lot going on for some of these guys. It's moving too fast for some of our offensive guys.
They got us field position and then the offense stuck it in. It's still a team game. I still believe our offense is going to get more consistency as we go along.
I don't want to forget this offense right here. We have to be good on offense. If we don't do well, then all of a sudden it's a short field and playing right into their hands.
