Both of our NCAA Championships (1999, 2004) came in years where we won the Big East Tournament. Time will tell if that's an automatic correlation. There are no good losses. No moral victories. But I do know this team is one to be reckoned with at the NCAA tourney.

In all my years of coaching, I can't remember a player who came as far as he did at that point of his career. He should be held up as an example.

They came out and pressed us and generally teams that press us allow to get ourselves going. And this was their third game in five days so it made it very difficult for them to stay with us.

The first Big East meeting I went to there was P.J. Carlesimo (Seton Hall), John Thompson (Georgetown), Louie Carnesecca (St. John's), Rick Pitino (Providence), Jim Boeheim, Jimmy O'Brien (Boston College) and Rollie Massimino (Villanova). That's what we faced when we came to the Big East. That coaching array alone I think made the Big East very special.

We got out ahead and they just took over the game as we started standing around. But we came back with that run which really speaks to the character of this team.

It was really fitting that Denham had such a great game. He was a horse out there, as far as handling the ball, especially when Marcus played such a poor first half. We sat Marcus down, talked about the Dow Jones and some other things. He came back and got us going.

The difference between the two teams, quite frankly, was we're a little more athletic and a little more experienced. That's what it came down to.
