Nothing is official, but I got a sense from talking to (the Jets) that Kevin will be a free agent. I think they've made the decision to retool and start over.

It's sad from the standpoint that Kevin loved being a Jet, took great pride in playing for the Jets and was one of the greatest players in Jets history. But we're in a business where this stuff happens.

The Jets want to go in a different direction. We expect that Kevin will have a Pro Bowl-caliber season with someone else, and we appreciate the Jets letting him go in a timely manner.
