Obviously, were all disappointed at the events of the last couple of days. I for one am particularly disappointed.

I don't know that we've played as poorly in a game as we did the game the other day, in the last couple of years.

I think so, because of the language that had to be learned and understood. The last thing you get is the technique because the language you can put together. But to be able to put the fundamentals together at the speed necessary to be successful takes some time. You can't have a lot of thought going through your mind.

We have not done the things on the offensive side particularly the last couple of weeks that you need to be able to do. Normally, we find ways to win at home (they were 4-4 at Qualcomm Stadium this season), we find ways to win close games ---- and we have failed to do that this season.

That's the way he approaches things, and that's why we were successful last year. He realizes that for us to go where we're trying to go ... he and his position are going to have to elevate their play. We snuck up on some folks a year ago, and that's not going to happen this year.

What they've done is remarkable. But at what point in time do you keep responding when you have to keep putting in new players? They've done it wonderfully over the last four years, but there comes a time where it has to catch up with you, even with a team as great as this one.

He's spent the last two years preparing himself for this opportunity available to him now. He spent his time well, and we're looking forward to getting started. It's just a matter of giving a young guy an opportunity. You have to have a good supporting cast around him, and we do.

The most remarkable thing of this whole football game, and I've been doing this a long time, I cannot remember the last time that I coached a game in the NFL when there was only one penalty. That was absolutely remarkable and unfortunately we had the one. But we'll get that worked out.

The game we play Saturday is going to last for six or seven months.

We controlled what we could today by pulling out a huge victory. We're still going to try to win the last two and see if we get invited when it's over. That's all we can do.
