He was absolutely great. He did things I haven't seen him do for a couple of years. He's got a lot of energy and he's taking two or three people to the rim. He's picking people apart.
He was definitely set back with the back for three months, and I don't think he ever really regained physically his game 100 percent.
History is history. But they've had our number for the last two or three years.
We traded a lot, but we got back three quality players. Antoine Walker is one of the very best multi-faceted, versatile players in this game. ... He is able to handle the ball, pass it, make plays, shoot 3's and rebound the ball. There isn't anyone in this league better at doing that.
We just couldn't stop Vince. We put two or three different guys on him. We tried to guard him the best we could. But Vince Carter is a great player. He's a runner and when he elevates, he can get above big guys.
We feel that he will be able to play three positions for us, giving us added versatility.
As soon as we begin to struggle offensively or get a little bit discouraged, two or three things happen to us and we stop playing defense.
We feel like with this trade we traded a lot, but we got back three quality players, ... Antoine Walker is one of the very best, multi-faceted, versatile players in this game.
Our depth today stepped up. Different guys have to play different roles because three key players are out. We are starting to feel more comfortable.
They come at you real fast. You have to play them two or three times (on actions). You can't play them once and think (the possession) is over with.
Antoine is capable of having an outrageous night. I was going to sub for him but I just wanted to get him one more possession. We allowed Antoine to bring it up a couple of times. He hit a three and I kept him in the game.
All year long we do 15 players, and they should do 15 in the playoffs. I don't understand the thinking at all behind it. We're the ones that have sort of dedicated ourselves in investing the money in three extra players and having them there, and we should be rewarded for that.
The first three or four minutes, they fronted him and put a guy behind him. Then they started to play him straight up and straight down. Then they started to double-team him, and he not only scored, but he picked their defense apart.
It's not easy. We need him on the court. I don't know how we're going to get around that. Two of his first three fouls were offensive.
We feel very fortunate that we were able to acquire the services of a multifaceted player in Derek Anderson , whom we had interest in this summer before he signed with Houston. We feel that he will be able to play three positions for us, giving us added versatility.
