S. Walker Three Quotations

Obviously this is a very important three games coming up. Any time you play games within your division, they're very important. We realize that.

Maine's won three in a row and they're shooting the heck out of the basketball. They're shooting 53 percent from three in the last three games so those guys are on fire right now. We just happened to catch those guys on two nights when they didn't shoot it very well.

Give a defense three or four weeks to prepare. Normally, we get two or three days. The defense loves preparation. I think this game will surprise some people. Our defense has been maligned, but they've made plays when they had to.

We told him a long time ago that the building had to be torn down and he'd get a minimum of three years' notice. He actually got an extra year out of it.

Matt, of course, worked three years for us as a graduate assistant and I am well aware of his background and talents. I always try and keep an eye on young, talented coaches, and it was an easy decision to hire Matt. He'll hit the ground running with his previous experience at Northwestern and with me. It's one of the three that prepares us for district. They're one of the best teams in the state of Oklahoma. It's neat to see how you measure up. I don't know anybody that goes out thinking hey this game doesn't matter. But if we win this game and the next two it still doesn't get us into the playoffs which is one of our goals. We have to see if we can pass the test. We'll find out Friday night.

That's partly a reflection of short vacations, ... My guess is that people who take a month off and travel experience longer lasting benefits than people who take three days off and work while they're away.

It's about going into a tournament knowing you have one of the top two or three players there,
