The fact that the Nasdaq breached 2000, an important psychological level, but managed to close above it several times now over the last week is a positive. But I think we're going to continue to see this consolidation for at least another week or so until more of the March economic reports start coming in.

We had some positive earnings reports, but I think the fact that we had jobless claims that were above and beyond what was expected derailed some enthusiasm,

Inflation will stay low. Interest rates will turn lower. Corporate earnings will continue to grow. And I think we can see the Dow by the first quarter of 1999 above 10,000.

The market is playing follow the leader. Oil is higher now but not affecting things, but if the price shoots above $75 a barrel it will weigh on us. It's not about earnings anymore and something has to give, and at this rate it looks like it may be equities.
