Obviously the Dow is being helped by the strength in Philip Morris, along with Microsoft and Intel. It's an 'old economy'-'new economy' rally. But volume is not all that great, so obviously the market will continue to guess what the Fed will or will not do.

Short-covering has brought stocks back a little, but you've got very little volume and the rhetoric of the potential attack against Iraq and the September 11th anniversary hanging over markets.

Futures are pointing up a little bit. I think we will see a typical August Friday: Low volume and no economic data. I think we will see some winding and grinding for most of the day.

From a technical standpoint, the fact that the market is testing the lower end of the trading range with low volume suggests the risk of the yearly lows being tested increases.

I think volume is going to pick up to begin with and that the markets probably, by end of this week, are going to begin to get out of that resistance level, both the Nasdaq and Dow. And I think we're probably going to test the old highs by the end of year. Leadership, I think, will come from technology and telecommunications stocks. The economy is headed for a soft landing. All the fundamentals remain in place. And, last but not the least, there's been a tremendous amount of build up in cash reserves. That money is going to be put to use.

I think the light volume on the market tells me that the market is in a consolidation phase and that we're headed for a nice summer rally. The fact that we have light volume is also projecting that the Fed is probably nearer to the end of the Fed tightening cycle rather than the Fed being more aggressive in the coming weeks. I think the technology stocks are going to come back strongly. And I think financial stocks are going to do well.

Volume is likely to remain light the rest of this week, and I would expect the market to remain volatile Thursday, ... But there's good news out there, and over the next few weeks, I think we'll remain in this trading range but edge up toward the higher end of it.

We're seeing some cautious trading right now, but the volume is decent, the momentum is on the upside and traditionally, this is a good week for the markets.

Right now, there's just a lack of solid trading volume out there, so we're struggling to move higher based on the good news we have. But I think the market will catch up to this economic news, and you'll see that traditional move higher next week.

It's been all over the place today because the volume is low. And in that kind of environment, the market is more vulnerable to pulling back on geopolitical concerns and the weakness of the dollar.

The volume is low and that's going to make it volatile, but I think things look promising heading into the new year.

There was some light profit-taking ahead of the (Easter and Passover) holidays. Volume is not that heavy and people are just waiting on the sidelines.
