There have been some instances where I've put my car in situations where maybe I should have thought a little bit differently about. But that's any driver. It's all about trying to gain respect. I really wanted to create my own identity and not be so closely linked with my brother, so I chose to go with Hendrick. All in all, it's just a great experience to be out here and run with the best of them. We need to build a championship team for next year.

The guys are doing an unbelievable job, ... I didn't think the lap was all that good, but it held up. We've really been running well here as of late. Hopefully we can keep it going the rest of the year.

This is a great way to start with a new group of guys. Our Dodge was fast today and hopefully it was still be fast on Sunday.

It's not whether you are getting boos or cheers, it's who gets the most noise. Right now it's close between Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr., but the Busch brothers are steadily climbing that rope.

It's not that there were some (penalties called) that were or were not necessary. It's just that they are judgment calls that may or may not need to be made and they made them. We just have to go on. We finished where we finished.

It's one of the things that you fight though when your car is good enough to win, your teammates car is good enough to win, too. It's a tight spot to be in, but as far as the team orders or anything, there was none of that.

There was really nothing I could've done. It was way too early to be going five wide. I was minding my own business in my own lane. It's just one of those deals. We got clipped in the back by (Edwards) -- not his doing. He didn't have much room.

We were out at the sand dunes and had a good time and talked a little bit. It's just all about how to be patient.

It's going to be about who has the best car at the end of a run, not just who is fast.

There's a lot of trial and error. A lot of the stuff fails. A lot of the stuff works. Overall, it's about trying to find the happy medium of the day.

Come up and talk to the driver about it. Help me out. I'm a young guy and I'm trying to learn. If you want to teach me something, come up and discuss it with me and tell me what I need to do differently.

I'd have to say right now he's probably looking toward the top five in the point standings, ... even though I'd love to believe that he could still get the championship.

Being able to run that well in our home town gives me a lot of pride.

And he really doesn't know where he is most of the time.

The thing you want to be able to do is to be well-liked when you retire. I know right now I'm not close to retiring, and I'm not close to being liked.

Practice for us went pretty well. It started out slow, but guys did a real nice job on the M&M’s Camry today to get us to where we needed to be. Everybody back at the shop is building some great stuff and TRD (Toyota Racing Development) making some improvements for the Chase here this weekend and whatnot. Having a good time there in practice means a lot, but there’s obviously a lot of things that need to happen in the race this weekend for us and getting off to a good start and being able to carry that into the next 10 weeks.

It was a battle all day with our M&M's Camry. I don't know why, we just didn't have what we needed. We never seemed to have the ticket we needed today. We got better all day, which was a positive and salvaged something out of nothing -- so all things considering it was okay. It's so late in the year, you're just running laps now and getting what you can get and seeing if you can win next weekend at Homestead to finish the year.
