(Red Sox) fans are going to be upset. I hope they remember the great World Series and the three out of four years we made the playoffs. I appreciate them. I tried to come back.
We were thinking this was our series for the taking. We felt like we would be up 3-0 at this point.
Bernie won the World Series four times here. If he's not there, it's not the same team. The way Bernie approaches the game, he's a laid-back guy, but he plays hard. I've never seen him dog it on the field. I have tremendous respect for him.
Every day, every night, every pitch -- everything is the most important situation that could come up. It kind of feels like the World Series a little bit. It's going to be amazing.
We'd be kidding ourselves if this weekend wasn't going to determine the outcome of this season. It's going to come down to this weekend. It's the master plan. God's way. Yankees-Red Sox. We just need to win some games before that series starts.
I know we'll have this game in the back of our minds for the rest of our lives. It might just be as close to the World Series as you might ever get without actually getting there. We wanted to, we tried to erase a curse. It seems that curse will be around for another year.
I'm comfortable with that. We were put together to win. We know we have to win the World Series or it's a lost year.
I know I'll always be remembered for Game 7 to help get us to the World Series and I know I'm also going to be remembered for jumping sides.
