Matt Painter has done probably the best job of any coach in our league when you look at the players he lost.
I feel like that is disrespect for me as a coach. If I can bring players in recruiting-wise, why can't I coach them?
I think every coach, whether or not they're going to be there next year, anytime they have a group of guys they really love and appreciate, I feel more sadness for them than anyone because they fought hard. They really fought hard over the last month. I'm proud of them.
It broke my heart to hear the news about Jason Collier. My sincerest condolences to his family in this difficult time. He was a great young man that I had the pleasure to coach at Indiana. He will be sorely missed.
Being a part of this, knowing I won't coach here anymore and won't coach these guys anymore was definitely a tough situation. But I'm proud of them, and they can hold their heads up high because they did a great job fighting back.
I should be trying to coach basketball and our guys should be enjoying their college careers. But I don't know if I've had a team that's had positive memories out of this whole deal since I've been here.
You're sad because as a competitor you'd like to go to the national championship game every year. I'm happy because six years from when coach (Bob) Knight was let go this is still a program. I'm very disappointed and sad I didn't get it done the way I would have liked.
He's really more of a hyper coach and likes to get into it.
