Only selfless service can encourage a person to reach the higher state of humanity.

More than listening to a hundred lectures or delivering them to others, offering one act as genuine service attracts the Grace of God.

Let the day dawn for you and others with thought of the Almighty, the Compassionate, and the Omnipresent self-knowing God. What greater service can you do to yourself and others? This will give you health and happiness.

God is in everyone. God is in you and you are God. Strengthen this fundamental truth. When you propagate this truth, that is the real service. It is the service that will take you to closer proximity, a boat. In this ocean of life, take the help of this boat and gain the proximity.

For the progress of humanity, work alone is not adequate, but the work should be associated with love, compassion, right conduct, truthfulness and sympathy. Without the above qualities, selfless service cannot be performed.

If a wave of service sweeps over the land, catching everyone in its enthusiasm, it will be able to wipe off the mounds of hatred, malice and greed that infest the World. Attune your hearts so that it will vibrate in sympathy with the woes and joys of your fellow-men. Fill the World with Love. Love will warn you against advising another to do something which you yourself are unwilling to do; your conscience will tell you that you are living in a lie!

Have faith in His Grace and lead a virtuous life, a life devoted to the service of the weak; a life spent in the thought about the might and glory of God.

God will not ask you when and where you did service? He will ask, with what motive did you do it? What was the intention that prompted you? You may weigh the service and boast of its quantity. But God seeks quality - the quality of heart, the purity of mind, the holiness of motive.

There is no discipline equal to service to smother the ego and to fill the heart with genuine joy. To condemn service as demeaning and inferior is to forego these benefits.

Many great kings, emperors, saints and seers have left without taking anything. When you are born you don't bring anything with you. Render service in divine awareness.

Plant the seeds of Love in your hearts. Let them grow into trees of Service and shower the sweet fruit of Ananda. Share the Ananda with all. That is the proper way to celebrate the Birthday.

Our life is like a block of ice which is melting away every moment. Before it spends itself, devote it to the service of others.

Service has been defined as Love made manifest . Baba repeatedly asks us to expand our hearts to include all humanity. He tells us that to care only for our own interests and those of our families is a constriction of our heart. Such constriction eventually results in loneliness and unhappiness -- as indeed we can see all around us, for it is the malady of the present age.

The body has to be utilized for service to others. More bliss can be got from serving others than from merely serving oneself.

The body will shine if the character is fine; service of man and worship of God will preserve its charm.

ANY one may blame you; but you should ignore all such blame and go forward in doing service without rancor.

Service is the highest spiritual discipline. Prayer and meditation, or knowledge of scripture and Vedanta (holy scriptures of India), cannot help you reach the goal as quickly as service can. Service has a double effect, it extinguishes the ego and gives bliss.

Service springs out of LOVE and it scatters LOVE in profusion.

Service without ideal of self . . . trains you to transcend all the artificial distinctions imposed by history and geography, and to realize that the human community is one and indivisible.

Despising brother-man, you cannot, at the same time, worship God; if you do, God will not accept that hypocrisy. God is resident in every heart; so, if you serve any one, that service reaches God within him, it brings to you the Grace of God.

If your voice is not pleasant or sweet, keep quiet; that is the best service you can do. 

In fact, service is the first step along the spiritual path, for service to man is service to God.

The cure that Baba has given us for this malady, is service. Service slowly and steadily broadens one's heart, bringing with it an unexpected feeling of happiness, and it begins to transform the community around us as well.

All service should be regarded as an offering to God, and every opportunity to serve should be welcomed as a gift from God. When service is done in this spirit, it will lead to self- realization.
